Position of Assistant Stud Manager at the Prestigious Baramul Stud Farm in the Upper Hunter Valley Assisting the Stud Manager with the day to day running of the Stud Farm, ensuring that all areas of the farm
You will be the contact when the Stud Manager is absent from the Farm and will be required to be on call every alternate weekend
You will work alongside the Vet Team, Farriers and Horse Managers to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the Stud Farm
You will be required daily to oversee the health and wellbeing and treatments of all the horses.
You will be required to keep accurate records of all horse movements, treatments under the strict WH & S and quarantine protocols
Work alongside the Farm Manager to ensure that all maintenance is kept up to date
Involved in recruitment alongside the Stud Manager and ongoing training and induction of new staff
Assist the Management with any performance issues and feedback and any conflicts which may occur
You will also need to make sure we conform to all Work Health and Safety procedures that are currently in place and also follow the Company's Policies and Procedures. Proven experience with strong horsemanship skills and a comprehensive understanding of how a Horse Stud Farm operates
Demonstrated People Management skills, with an ability to lead and motivate staff.
Strong Problem-solving skills with a proven track record

Position is full-time and available in Scone NSW. Horse Trainer/Breeding- Yearlings – Duties will include: • Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses • Educating and preparing young stock for sale • Early education of foals and weanlings • Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy • Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals Essential Criteria • A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years’ professional full-time experience educating and training horses • A minimum of two years’ equivalent full-time experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horses • Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including stallions, sales or breeding • Proven ability to train and educate young horses • Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction; provide information and advice to others and prepare basic reports • Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment • Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses This is a full-time position, and the suitable applicant will need to commit to a minimum of two-years employment.
