SPEAKER BIO's
1 Claudia Macleay is a Agrifutures sponsored PhD student with Dr Victoria Brookes as her primary supervisor. Claudia is an equine scientist and Viki Brookes is specialist epidemiologist (FANZCVS) with extensive and wide ranging clinical experience including being a stud clinician in the Scone, and with global research (PhD) qualifications and experience.
2 Claire Dennis is a veterinarian and accomplished and qualified (MANZCVS) equine dentist, with an absolute passion for dentistry and teaching this subject to those who are keen to listen.
3 Allan Gunn is a specialist in veterinary reproduction with a wealth of experience in equine breeding in Australia and overseas, including the UK, China and Zimbabwe. He has passion for clinical activity and teaching both undergraduate students and residents and his contributions to clinical services have been recognised through award of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
4 Dr Jennifer Clulow is a ‘locally produced’ specialist in veterinary reproduction, with a wealth of global experience is horse reproduction. Prior to obtaining her veterinary degree she obtained a PhD in andrology (effectively studying spermatozoa) which she is continuing with as a veterinarian.
5 Professor Sharanne Raidal is a specialist in equine medicine with a vast array of research and clinical experience, and a passion for keeping foals alive and for teaching students and residents in equine medicine.
6 Professor Kristopher Hughes is a specialist in equine medicine and director of the CSU Equine Hospital with a wide range of research, teaching and clinical experience. Amongst his clinical and research interests is the treatment of complex eye diseases.
7 Fernando Amitrano is Argentinian (yes, it is tea only in his cup with a straw) veterinarian with specialist surgical training in the USA. He has a passion for explaining to people how and why animals should be treated with a scalpel blade.
8 Associate Professor Rafael Labens is a European veterinary graduate with extensive (specialist in both surgery; and sports medicine and rehabilitation) knowledge of equine athletes. He also manages to administer the CSU equine hospital being the superintendent of the VCC.
