The tremendous run of progeny from the 2014 foaled crop of New South Wales based Champion Sire Snitzel continues unabated. On Saturday Trapeze Artist, bred and raced by Mr Bert Vierra, put a high class field to the sword with a stunning four and a quarter length win in the Gr.1 Golden Rose at Rosehill. In doing so he became the third individual Gr.1 winner from what is now Snitzel’s three year old crop, somewhat remarkable given there have only been eight genuine opportunities for that year’s foals to succeed at the highest level.
In total this was a tenth individual black-type winner from that drop his other successes coming in Gr.1’s from Invader and Summer Passage while he also has the Gr.2 winners Tangled and Menari, the Gr.3 winners Teaspoon, Jukebox and Dracarys and Debonairly and Ducimus have won at Listed level. It should also be remembered that Snitzel provided a rare trifecta in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes when Invader led home Summer Passage and Trapeze Artist. Snitzel stands at Arrowfield Stud and it is undeniable his record is improving the older he gets.
The son of Redoute’s Choice will now have an opportunity to influence breeding in the Northern Hemisphere with the recent announcement that his son Spill The Beans will reverse shuttle to the National Stud at Newmarket for the 2018 Northern season.
