Four winners for Exceed and Excel at official  2YO  trials in Sydney

Darley’s champion sire Exceed and Excel (Danehill) topped the Australian 2YO sires’ list in 2012/13 and could be in for another big season in 2017/18 judging from results at the official Sydney barrier trials for juveniles held at Canterbury on September 18.

He supplied four of the 12 winners – Hiemal (colt), Witherspoon (filly), Performer (colt) and Osborno (colt) – with Hiemal and Osborno racing in the Godolphin colours.

Witherspoon (53.25), Hiemal (53.73) and Performer (53.94) recorded three of the fastest times of the day in the 900m heats.

Also pleasing for Darley was the trial win of the filly Meryl in Heat 2 as she is a member of the first Australian crop of its young sire Epaulette (Commands) whose first runners in Europe have made a big impression this season.

Champion sire Snitzel had two impressive trial winners at Canterbury in Bondi and Munich while I Am Invincible also had a double with Landon and Bold Arial.

Newgate Farm’s first crop stallion Sizzling (Snitzel) also supplied a Canterbury trial winner when Line Up Girls scored in Heat 11.
