Once again the vast strength and depth of stallions based in New South Wales was on show last Friday and Saturday along the eastern seaboard. Of the seventeen black-type races run over the two days, twelve fell to horses conceived in NSW with three of the remainder being overseas bred.
Of course Champion mare Winx (Street Cry) led the way but Humidor’s stunning win in the Makybe Diva Stakes provided further evidence of quality of horse Darley’s Teofilo is capable of siring. Other highlights were the maiden Australian Stakes win for the progeny of Sepoy when Alizee took the Tea Rose Stakes and reward for persistency by the connections of the late blooming eight year old Got Unders who won Friday’s Cameron Handicap at Newcastle.
