Redoute’s Choice Story Far From Over

Eight months after the death of Redoute’s Choice, it’s clear that neither his record nor his story is finished. Saturday’s Gr1 heroine Loire (see above) is his fourth Gr1 winner in three countries over the past 12 months (after Galaxy Star in Perth, Champion 3YO Colt The Autumn Sun in Sydney and Danceteria in Europe). Furthermore, she is Redoute’s Choice’s seventeenth individual Gr1 Classic winner, his second NZ 1000 Guineas winner (after King’s Rose in 2010), and takes his progeny’s tally of 2019 stakes wins to 21.

Saturday was also a productive day for Redoute’s Choice, the reigning Champion Broodmare Sire, and he leads the 2019/20 Australian premiership in that category with $11.1 million. His daughters figure as the dams of Sandown Gr3 winners Jamaican Rain and Teleplay, and at Newcastle, the Max Lees 2YO Classic winner Tilia Rose and inaugural $1 million The Hunter winner Savatiano. Arrowfield graduate Game of Thorns (runner-up Newcastle JC Spring S. G3) and Palurien (runner-up MRC Twilight Glow S. LR) are also out of mares by the legendary sire.

Owners & trainers would be delighted that some breeders are prepared to offer yearlings from Redoute’s Choice’s penultimate 40-foal crop. They include 9 lots catalogued for the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale: drafts of Arrowfield (4), Baramul (2), Bhima, Rosemont & Sledmere.
