TBNSW proudly supported three exceptional riders who showcased their talent at Equimillion 2024. In this article, we highlight their journey, achievements, and dedication to the sport.
Sponsored Rider Name: Carly Sawyer
Horse: Aldrich
Discipline: Eventing
Pedigree: Snitzel x Covertly
Career: 2-0-0-0
Prizemoney: $400
“Aldrich” was born and bred at Arrowfield stud, with his sire being none other than Snitzel. He graduated Arrowfield in 2016 and was sold for $170000 at the Magic Millions sale before he begun training with Paul Perry. Although he was very unsuccessful during his short racing career, Aldrich had a natural talent that could not be wasted. From a completely blank canvas sitting in the paddock to becoming an incredibly talented jumper. He has found his love for eventing. It has been beyond rewarding to watch him grow into the talented performance horse that he was always destined to be! Aldrich and I hope to compete in the 95cm Eventing at Equimillion 2024, and we are already showing promising results at this level in competition. This would be a very special opportunity to represent Thoroughbred Breeders NSW. I believe that no matter the age, history or breeding every retired racehorse deserves the chance at a second career. I certainly couldn’t imagine my life without my OTTB, he is the best partner I could have asked for.

Sponsored Rider Name: Jamie Priestley
Horse: Pink Patina
Discipline: Showjumping
Pedigree: Alert (ARG) x Etinceler (AUS)
Career: 20-2-1-0
Prizemoney: $30,190
My name is Jamie Priestley.
My first showjumping horse was a thoroughbred gelding – he taught me the ropes and took me around my first Sydney royal junior jumping competition when I was first eligible at 14 years old. He set me up for success in my jumping career – some highlights of my jumping career are winning the 2019 Senior NSW state showjumping championships, placing 7th in the Sale World Cup 2019, 9th in the 2021 Caboolture World Cup, 2022 NSW senior country completion, member of the NSW National senior showjumping team at the Australian showjumping championships in 2022 & being on the winning young rider NSW team at the Australian showjumping championships.
I would represent TBNSW with pride on my gorgeous mare who has a very bright jumping career ahead of her.

Sponsored Rider Name: Madeline Grist
Horse: Fred (Race Name: Real Natural)
Discipline: Showjumping
Pedigree: Natural Destiny x Real Smart
Career: 19-1-1-1
Prizemoney: $13,040
Fred and I have been a pair since February 2023. Fred raced until he was 7 years old. After his racing career, he had a two year spell and then was brought back into light work, mostly trail riding, before he came to me in Murrumbateman.
We have been competing at local ag shows and competitions in showjumping up to 80cm, with our last placing at the Braidwood show in the 70cm, coming second. We are currently training up to 100cm showjumping coached by Stephen Dingwall, and novice dressage, coached by Elizabeth Bloomfield. We are based at our home farm in Murrumbateman, and travel down to Bywong once a fortnight to train at Munda Pines Equestrian (Fred often features on their social media posts – mundapines_horses_and_hounds)
Fred is the second thoroughbred I have owned and is a pleasure to own and train. He is a very willing horse, loves to jump. He is versatile, loves going out on a trail ride, loves to jump, brave on our local cross country course, and is easy enough for my non-horsey family to handle.
Really appreciate you offering this amazing opportunity for sponsorship at this exciting event.
