Trapeze Artist To Stand At Widden Stud | Breeding and Racing

Four time Gr1-winning sprinter Trapeze Artist (Snitzel-Treppes, by Domesday) will stand at Widden Stud, according to widden.com. The Bert Viera-owned 4YO entire added to his sparkling record with a fourth Gr1 victory last Saturday in the Gr1 Canterbury Stakes in track record time (see report further down). By Arrowfield Stud’s champion sire Snitzel, Trapeze Artist was Champion 3YO Colt in Australia last season and has earned in excess of $5.5 million with Gr1 wins in the ATC Golden Rose (1400m), All Aged Stakes (1400m) TJ Smith Stakes (1200m). He smashed Black Caviar’s race record in the Gr1 ATC TJ Smith Stakes defeating Redzel, In Her Time and Le Romain, then became the first 3YO in history to go on and win the All Aged Stakes at his next start. He was also runner-up in The Everest. “It’s a real privilege to stand Trapeze Artist on behalf of the Viera family,” said Widden Stud’s Antony Thompson. “He is a record breaking machine, just a phenomenal athlete and is by the best stallion in the country. Trapeze Artist’s swansong is likely to be his attempt to go back-to-back in the TJ Smith on 6 April. A stud fee is yet to be announced.
